A Network Encouraging Pastoral Care With
Lesbian And Gay Catholics And Their Families

Increasing numbers of lesbian and gay people are taking another look at the Catholic Church. Many are beginning to reclaim their membership in the Body of Christ and the Church. Many are discovering in the Church a new spirit of openness.

Our Mission

Inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and grounded in the Catholic moral and social justice tradition, the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries, as a resource and network, encourages pastoral care with lesbian and gay persons and their families.

We urge those in ministry to:

  • reflect on Sacred Scripture,
  • reflect on Church teaching and pastoral practice,
  • study the social and physical sciences,
  • listen to and ponder the lived experience of lesbian and gay persons and their families.

This ministry respects the human dignity and human rights of lesbian and gay persons, and affirms that all who are baptized are called to full participation in the life, worship and mission of the church.
